Letter from a New Member
After 52 very happy years of marriage my best friend and husband Joe died of lung cancer. As you can imagine I was devastated, I couldn't imagine life without my soul mate who had always done everything for me and with me.
Now, 18 months later I am starting to get my life on track again. I joined sequence dancing at Neston Civic Hall, I had no idea what sequence dancing was. I was made very welcome, everyone is so friendly. I have been a member for three months now, and as one of my dancing partners said last week "I can see you going in for your medal soon." It's great fun. I am lucky that I can go to new places on my own. (I have the gift of the gab -should that be GOB?)
I fancied trying out indoor bowls about a month ago and that is how I joined Neston U3A. All very friendly and very helpful, very occasionally, I bowl the winning ball. Just imagine me a bowler!
I have booked a mini holiday to Blackpool for Ballroom Dancing in April 2010, I haven't danced in the Tower Ballroom for quite a few years. I'm looking forward to it so much. People cannot understand how I can go on my own but this doesn't bother me.
I talk to my husband's photograph about everything I do, just as if he is still with me. It certainly helps me a lot.
Thank you everybody for being so friendly and helpful, I am starting to enjoy life again.
